NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After stellar performances over the weekend, senior Naomi Wells earned the Offensive Player of the Week for the OVC
The honor comes after a weekend where the junior was able to ignite the Tigers attack against OVC foes Tennessee Tech and Jacksonville State. In the two games over the weekend Wells earned 30 kills with a 5.0 kill per set average, hit .278 and posted 33.5 points good enough for 5.58 points per set.
To open the weekend against Tennessee Tech the Huntsville, Ala. native had 13 kills and a .346 hitting percentage with just four errors. Wells chipped in seven digs to round out the evening.
Tennessee State returned to action the following night and Wells continued her hot streak posting a double-double in a loss to Jacksonville State. Wells recorded a game high 17 kills, with a .239 hitting percentage. The junior racked up 14 digs to post her sixth double-double of the season.
The accolade was the first weekly award for any Tiger this season.
Wells and the Tigers return to action tomorrow night when they hit the road to take on Memphis, with first serve set for 6 p.m.
