Ambroch and Moss Earn Weekly OVC Honors

Nashville, Tenn. - On Monday, the Ohio Valley Conference named sophomore outside hitter Rachel Ambroch and junior setter Erika Moss Offensive Player of the Week and Setter of the Week, respectively.

The announcement marks the first time in school history that two players have received awards during the same calendar week.

Moss earned her second player of the week nomination after recording 85 assists in two matches. She tied her season high with 49 assists in the win at Belmont and played a part in the team hitting .417 in the straight set victory over Eastern Illinois.

This was Moss' second OVC Setter of the Week award this season. Her first occurred on Sept. 28.

For Ambroch, her nomination was the first of her career. She joins Moss and senior libero Britani Hathorn, who was named OVC Defensive Player of the Week last Monday, as the third Tiger to win a weekly award this season. The nomination marks the first time in TSU history that three different players have won a weekly award and the first instance where Tennessee State has had a student-athlete selected in each of the three categories.

Ambroch started the week by racking up 20 kills at Belmont, and followed that with 14 versus EIU. She also hit a team-high .778 in the contest against Eastern Illinois. During the second set of EIU match, Ambroch was a perfect six-for-six in kill opportunities for a hitting percentage of 1.000.

Ambroch and Moss helped the Tigers go 2-0 on the week to improve to 3-1 in the OVC and 8-8 overall.

TSU's next matches will be at home against Tennessee Tech on Oct. 5 and Jacksonville State on Oct.6.
