Clarksville, Tenn. --- The Tennessee State University volleyball team fell to Austin Peay in three sets Tuesday night in the Dunn Center.
Tennessee State (10-7, 6-4) tallied 39 kills in the match but only managed a .102 hitting percentage while Austin Peay (6-15, 4-6 OVC) registered 35 kills with a .260 hitting percentage.
The set scores were: 18-25, 16-25 and 19-25.
Ilynanna Hernandez notched 10 kills while Paige Economos recorded 15 digs for Austin Peay.
A kill by Shaquita Williams pulled TSU to within four in the first set before Austin Peay used a small spurt to go ahead, 20-13. Erika Moss recorded a kill to cut the deficit down to five but that would be as close as TSU would get.
In the second set, the Tigers committed 10 errors and hit .024 in a 25-16 loss to the Lady Govs. APSU only posted eight kills but hit .222 in the match.
In the third frame, TSU fell behind 6-1 before APSU stretched the lead to 18-10. The Tigers were unable to overcome the deficit.
The Tigers return to action on Saturday, Oct. 15 against Tennessee Martin. Match time is slated for 2 p.m. in Kean Hall.
