Murray, Ky. --- It took extra points to decide the winner in the first two sets, but the Tennessee State University volleyball team faltered in the third frame, falling to Murray State, 3-0, Friday night in Racer Arena.

The set scores were 25-27, 25-27, and 12-25.

Tennessee State (5-14, 3-8 OVC) had two players post double-digits in kills led by Shaquita Williams with 14. Williams also hit .458 in the contest and tallied 16 points. Santia Sanders recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 12 kills and 13 digs while Erika Moss dished out 36 assists and added 10 digs.

Ashley Nenninger led Murray State (10-12, 6-5 OVC) in kills with 15 while Kayleah Sauer (16), Katlyn Hudson (11), Jade Guo (11), and Becca Lamb (10) each posted double-figures in digs for the Racers.

TSU hit a scorching .395 and tallied 17 kills in the first set. The Racers, however, recorded 18 kills (.333) and were able to edge the Tigers, 27-25, in the closely played set.

Much like the first, the second set was a battle. TSU trailed, 24-22, when back-to-back kills from Shaquita Williams evened the score. After trading points, a kill by Su Logan and a Tiger attack error allowed Murray to squeeze out the, 27-25, win.

TSU only hit .081 while MSU registered a .400 hitting percentage in the third set. The Racers jumped out to an 8-2 lead and extended their advantage to 14-3 behind a 6-1 run. The Tigers were never able to overcome the deficit and Murray State maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.

Tennessee State returns to action tomorrow at UT Martin. Match time is slated for 2 p.m.
