Volleyball matches up with Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State at home

Nashville --- Volleyball will host two conference home games this week as Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State come to town. On Friday, October 15, the Tigers will match-up against Eastern Kentucky at 7:00p.m. and on Saturday, October 16, at 2:00p.m. the Tigers will take on Morehead State. Both games will be held inside Kean Hall.

After leading 2-0 the Tigers dropped a disappointing five-set loss to Austin Peay Friday in Kean Hall. The (5-11, 3-5 OVC) Tigers will be rebounding from the 25-23, 25-22, 14-25, 21-25, 7-15, loss to Austin Peay as they prepare for this weekend's games against Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State. Kamille King recorded her seventh double-double of the season against Austin Peay while registering a team-high 16 kills to add to 13 digs. Ericka Moss also registered a double-double while posting 38 assists and 13 digs. Santia Sanders anchored the defense with 16 digs, while Vicmari Prospero continued to hit well as she turned in five service aces and a .412 hitting percentage.

Seniors Santia Sanders and Vicmari Prospero are leading the offense, as Sanders has a team-high 141 kills while Prospero has registered 122 kills while hitting .311. Also, senior Kamille King continues to lead the defense as she now has 186 digs averaging over three per set. Freshman setter Ericka Moss now has 480 assists on the year after adding 38 against Austin Peay. 


Tennessee State vs. Eastern Kentucky (6-11) (5-3 OVC)
The overall series record between the Tigers and the Colonels is 5-40 in favor of EKU. The Colonels are on a three-game win streak after a recent shut out of Murray State, the scores were 27-25, 25-18 and 25-22. The Colonels have been led by senior Autumn Harms. She totaled a match-best 14 kills against Murray State with a .478 hitting percentage. Also, freshmen Ashley Edmond contributed 13 kills along with seven digs and senior Lauren Snyder had 11 kills to add to nine digs, as EKU had three players recording over 10 digs in the match.

Tennessee State vs. Morehead State (14-6) (8-0 OVC)
Morehead State leads the overall series between the two teams 36-8. The Tigers dropped their match against the Eagles earlier this season (10-25, 12-25, 18-25). Morehead State comes into this match as the highest-ranking team in the OVC. The Eagles recently extended their win streak to six matches after a 3-0 sweep of UT Martin. Redshirt freshman Aryn Bohannon led the team with a .400 hitting percentage while adding three of the teams seven aces, along with 11 digs. To add to this, sophomore Ellie Roberson contributed solid offensive play as she registered 10 kills while hitting .318 during the victory.
