Tiger volleyball prepares for Austin Peay

Nashville, Tenn. --- Tennessee State volleyball will host Austin Peay on Friday, October 8, at 7:00 p.m. in Kean hall. The Tigers are currently 3-4 in conference play (5-10 overall), and look to add another win to bounce back to .500 in the league.

Tiger Recap
TSU recently dropped an upsetting (25-10, 12-25, 25-18) match to a first place Morehead State team on Tuesday night. The Tigers were only able to record 16 total kills while adding a .024 hitting percentage in the loss. Shaquita Williams tallied a team-best six kills for the Tigers while Kamille King led with 10 digs. Erika Moss finished the match with 16 set assists.

Tiger Preview
The improving Tiger offense is still being led by senior Santia Sanders as she leads the team with 134 kills (.133). Shaquita Williams and Vicmari Prospero are also making big contributions to the Tigers offense as Williams has 122 kills while hitting .166 and Prospero has registered 114 put aways while hitting an impressive .305 hitting percentage. Kamille King is still the rock of the defense as she has registered 173 digs on the year averaging over three digs per set.

As a team, Tennessee State is averaging 10.98 kills/set (.150) and ranks third in the OVC in service aces (1.50). Shaquita Williams is second in the league in service aces (.43) while Vicmari Prospero is fourth in hitting percentage (.305). Kamille King is also in the top ten in digs (4.75).

Tigers vs. Lady Govs
Austin Peay leads the overall series between the two teams, 37-7, coming into this match-up. The Lady Govs will be rebounding from a closely played five-set match (25-21, 23-25, 25-22, 21-25, 6-15) to Eastern Kentucky. The Lady Govs dropped the match after leading through three sets. The loss pushed the Lady Govs back to third place in the OVC. Nikki Doyle led Austin Peay with 16 kills during the match, but finished with a .143 hitting percentage after committing nine attack errors. Errors plagued the Lady Govs in the match as they registered 25 attack errors along with 11 serving errors.

Austin Peay averages 13.5 kills per set while hitting .240.  Nikki Doyle is the Lady Govs overall leader in kills with 242 (3.78 kps) and Paige Economos leads the team in digs (4.75). APSU currently leads the OVC in assists, kills and service aces while ranking in the top three in digs and hitting percentage.
