Nashville --- The Tennessee State University volleyball team will return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 6 with a home match against Morehead State with the theme "Think Pink", in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The Tigers (2-14, 1-4 OVC) are coming off of a 3-2 loss to the Golden Eagles of Tennessee Tech and are looking to snap a four match losing skid.
Against TTU, sophomore Shaquita Williams turned in a career best 15 kills (.333) in addition to three digs and three block assists. Junior Santia Sanders also posted double-digit kills for TSU with 10. Three Tigers registered double-figures in digs led by freshman Calasia Williams (15) and junior Kamille King (13). Yamari Padilla Collazo tallied 11 digs and 43 set assists.
Offensively, the Tigers are led by sophomores Terakka Walker (2.26 kps) and Shaquita Williams (2.21 kps), and junior Vicmari Prospero (2.05 kps). Freshmen Calasia Williams is averaging 3.24 digs per set while Walker registers 3.21 digs per contest.
Morehead State's (12-5, 5-1 OVC) only OVC loss of the season came to Austin Peay last week. The Eagles are led by Kaitlin Craven's 3.38 kills per set. Ellie Roberson (2.49 kps), Holly Evans (2.19 kps), and Aryn Bohannon (2.09 kps) are also leading Morehead State offensively. Kristina Schoo is leading the team with 4.48 digs per contest.
Tuesday will mark the 42nd meeting between Tennessee State University and Morehead State with the Eagles holding a commanding 33-8 lead.
Match time is slated for 6 p.m. in Kean Hall. Fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
