Volleyball Hosts Lady Govs

Nashville - The Tennessee State University volleyball team will prepare for a Friday night match with visiting OVC opponent Austin Peay in Kean Hall at 7 p.m.

Tennessee State (2-15, 1-5 OVC) will look to snap a five match losing skid in the final contest of a four-match home stand. Austin Peay (12-5, 6-1 OVC) claimed the first meeting of the season at 3-1 at the Dunn Center. 

The Tigers have yet to win on their home court this season as the Lady Govs come into tonight's contest with a road record of 3-2.

Terakka Walker leads the Tigers with 2.26 kills a game while Shaquita Williams averages 2.17 put aways per contest. Vicmari Prospero turns in 2.10 kills per game for TSU. Defensively, the Tigers are led by Calasia Williams with 3.26 digs a game. Walker averages 3.15.

Stephanie Champine leads the Lady Govs with 4.19 kills per contest while Ilyanna Hernandez (2.61 kps) and Kirstin Distler (2.11 kps) also lead APSU in kills. Paige Economos (4.13 dps), Distler (3.37 dps) and Champine (3.18 dps) lead the Lady Govs defensively.

Tennessee State and Austin Peay will meet for the 44th time with the Lady Govs holding a commanding 36-7 lead.

Match time is slated for 7 p.m. in Kean Hall.
