Nashville --- The Tiger volleyball team will look to snap its five match losing skid this weekend when they participate in the Western Kentucky Tournament this Friday and Saturday, Sept.11-12.
The Tigers (1-6) are coming off of a 3-1 loss to the Lady Mocs of Chattanooga in the home opener on Tuesday night. TSU struggled offensively, only registering 48 kills and a .084 hitting percentage for the night. The Tigers also committed 34 attack errors in the contest.
Terakka Walker captured a double-double with a match-high 13 kills in addition to 12 digs. Shaquita Williams also tallied double-digits in kills with 10. Calasia Williams recorded 12 digs while Kamille King notched 11.
For the season, Terakka Walker leads the Tigers in kills (2.48) and digs (3.12) per set. Vicmari Prospero is averaging 2.04 kills per set and Calasia Williams turns in 2.88 digs per contest. Currently TSU is hitting .121 as team with 11.44 kills per set.
Tennessee State has an overall series record of 1-17 against Western Kentucky while the Tigers have never picked up a win against Memphis (0-4) or Northern Illinois (0-1). The Lady Toppers will head into the tournament with an overall record of 4-3 while the Tigers of Memphis are winless (0-7) thus far in the season. The Huskies are 4-4.
The Tigers will face host Western Kentucky and Memphis on Friday before matching up with Northern Illinois on Saturday.
