Nashville --- The Tennessee State University volleyball team will return to action Tuesday with a non-conference match against Alabama-Birmingham on the road.
The Tigers (2-16, 1-6 OVC) return to the road after a four-match home stand. TSU will look to end its six match losing skid when they go to face the Blazers (10-10, 4-2).
TSU has a 1-6 record on the road while UAB holds a 3-2 record at home.
The Tigers are coming off of a 3-0 loss to the Lady Govs of Austin Peay on Saturday. Tennessee State hit. 130 and recorded 35 kills while Austin Peay turned in a .271 hitting percentage and tallied 46 kills. Santia led the Tigers with nine kills while Vicmari Prospero added eight. Terakka Walker led the Tigers with 18 digs while Sanders added 17. Kamille King and Calasia Williams chipped in 10 digs apiece. Yamari Padilla-Collazo dished out 30 set assists for the Tigers and Shaquita Williams tallied three service aces.
Overall, the Tigers are led offensively by Terakka Walker (2.23 kps), Shaquita Williams (2.17 kps), Vicmari Prospero (2.12 kps) and Santia Sanders (2.00 kps). Walker also leads the team in digs with 3.28 a set. Calasia Williams chips in 3.27 digs per set while Yamari Padilla-Collazo dishes out 8.89 assists per contest.
UAB (10-10, 4-2 C-USA) has won three of its last five matches. The Blazers are coming off of a 3-0 win over East Carolina. Andrea Lalic leads UAB in kills with 3.08 per set while Sam Serley adds 2.89 kps and Savannah Pegg registers 2.27 kps. Heather Thomas leads the Blazers defensively with 4.58 digs per contest.
This will be the fifth meeting between the two teams as UAB leads the short series 4-0. Match time is slated for 6 p.m. at Bartow Arena.
