Nashville --- The Tennessee State University volleyball team will return to action this weekend with OVC contests at UT Martin and Murray State.
The Tigers (2-17, 1-6 OVC) are coming off of a non-conference loss to UAB Tuesday night. TSU will be looking to end a seven-match losing skid and pick up its second road win of the season at UTM.
Sophomore Terakka Walker leads the Tigers on both ends with 2.21 kills and 3.25 digs per set. Sophomore Shaquita Williams averages 2.23 kps while junior Vicmari Prospero adds 2.12 kps. Freshman Calasia Williams registers 3.21 digs per contest.
As a team, Tennessee State is averaging 11.25 kills per set with a .121 attack percentage. The Tigers turn in 14.96 blocks and 1.34 total blocks per set.
UT Martin (7-12, 2-7 OVC) has had its share of troubles this season as the Skyhawks have dropped their last three. UTM's only two conference wins have come to Eastern Kentucky and Eastern Illinois. Offensively, the Skyhawks are led by Lauren Montague (2.87 kps), Britany Wilburn (2.48 kps) and Ashley Doherty (2.48 kps). Kasey Elswick averages a team best 4.83 digs a game.
Murray State (3-15, 3-5 OVC) is also on a three-match losing skid. The Racers three conference wins were over Eastern Illinois, Eastern Kentucky, and UT Martin. Becca Lamb leads MSU with 2.77 kills along with Ashley Nennninger (2.52 kps) and Logan Su (2.09 kps). Kayleah Sauer notches a 4.47 digs per contest.
TSU and UTM will meet for the 38th time in school history with the Skyhawks holding a 29-8 lead. The Tigers and the Racers will match-up for the 45th time with Murray State leading 38-6.
Tennessee State versus UT Martin is slated for 7 p.m. on Friday in Skyhawk Arena while the Tigers match-up against the Racers is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Racer Arena.
