Nashville --- The Tennessee State University volleyball team will conclude its four match road swing with contests at Tennessee Tech and Jacksonville State this weekend.
The Tigers currently stand in ninth place in the OVC race and are looking to snap a five match losing skid.
Last week, the Tigers (3-22, 2-11 OVC) fell to Eastern Kentucky before dropping a 3-1 decision to Morehead State. Shaquita Williams led TSU offensively with 20 kills while Kamille King dished out a team best 27 digs. As a team, Tennessee State hit .102 for the weekend and tallied 78 kills.
On the season, Shaquita Williams (2.48 kps), Terakka Walker (2.15 kps), Vicmari Prospero (2.01 kps) and Santia Sanders (2.01 kps) lead the Tigers offensively. Walker also leads the team defensively with 3.04 digs per contest.
Tennessee State will look to even the season series as Tennessee Tech claimed the first meeting, 3-2, in Kean Hall. The Golden Eagles (8-16, 8-6 OVC) are currently tied for fourth place in the OVC standings. Amanda Lindgren averages a team best 2.92 kills per game. Match time is slated for 7 p.m. at the Eblen Center on Friday.
On Saturday, Tennessee State will face Jacksonville State. The Gamecocks (21-5, 14-0 OVC) have yet to be defeated in OVC play and are currently on a 14-match winning streak. JSU defeated TSU 3-0 earlier this season in Kean Hall. The Gamecocks are led in scoring by Brittney Whitten with 3.27 kills per contest. Match time is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Pete Mathews Coliseum.
