Nashville --- The Tennessee State University volleyball team will wrap-up the 2009 regular season with home matches against Murray State and UT Martin this weekend.
The Tigers (3-25, 2-14 OVC) will look to pick up their first home win of the season as well as snap an eight match losing streak.
TSU is coming off of a five-set battle against Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday night in which they dropped a 3-2 decision to the Colonels. Naomi Wells led Tennessee State with 17 kills while Shaquita Williams and Vicmari Prospero added 13 each. Shawna Ruiz chipped in 12 kills. Terakka Walker just missed a double-double with a match-high 31 digs to go along with nine kills. Kamille King registered 25 digs while Yamari Padilla- Collazo recorded 13 digs and 54 assists.
Overall, the Tigers are led offensively by Shaquita Williams (2.47 kps), Vicmari Prospero (2.09 kps), and Terakka Walker (2.07 kps). Walker also leads the team in digs per contest with 3.21. TSU has an attack percentage of .136 and averages 11.75 kills per contest. Vicmari Prospero leads the OVC in service aces while Yamari Padilla-Collazo is ranked eighth in assists.
On Friday, TSU will look to even the season series as Murray State claimed the earlier meeting, 3-0. The Racers are 11-16 (10-6 OVC) while ranking fourth in the league standings. Murray State is hitting .234 and averaging 12.65 kills a match.
The Tigers swept the Skyhawks on the road in the first meeting and will look to sweep the season series. UT Martin has struggled this conference season (8-19, 2-14 OVC) and sits in last place in the league standings. UTM averages 11.6 kills per match with a .164 attack percentage. The Skyhawks are on a nine-match OVC losing skid.
Friday's contest is slated to begin at 7 p.m. while Saturday, Senior Day, is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start in Kean Hall.
