MOREHEAD, Ky.--- After winning three consecutive matches, the Tennessee State University volleyball team fell to OVC opponent Morehead State, 0-3 (21-30, 26-30, 12-30) Friday night in Wetherby Gym. Tennessee State moves to 4-7 overall and 2-1 in the OVC while Morehead improves to 9-5 and remains unbeaten in conference play (3-0). Junior Candace Saleaumua managed a double-double with 23 set assists and 10 digs. Both teams played each other close in the beginning of first game with neither team pulling away by too much. With the score tied 13-13, Morehead went on a 7-1 run to claim the win. Carrying the momentum from the game one win, Morehead jumped out to an early lead in game two and continued to build on it. Unable to find an offensive rhythm, the Lady Tigers would trail by as many as 15 points before MSU claimed the win. In game three, TSU grabbed a small 2-1 lead on a Morehead attack error. The score went back and forth over the next couple of points until the Lady Eagles went on a series of runs that pushed them to leads of 7-4, 10-5 and 12-6. Morehead would hold on to the lead for the rest of the game in route to the match victory. TSU completes the Kentucky road swing tomorrow when it faces EKU. Game time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. central.
