AUBURN---The Lady Tiger volleyball team went the distance with Sun Belt opponent Troy University before falling 2-3( 26-30, 28-30, 30-17, 30-27, 5-15). The Lady Tigers play Troy close in the first game. With the game tied 24-24, however, Troy went on a 6-2 run to win the game. The second game, similar to the first, saw TSU in a close contest with the Trojans. Down 25-29 late in the game, The Lady Tigers went on a 3-0 run to bring the game to 28-29 but Troy was able to keep TSU at bay going up 2-0. The momentum shifted in game three, as TSU took a 9-7 lead following a kill by Kelly Davis and held on to the lead for the rest of the game. Game four was a closely battled contest but the Lady Tigers were able to hold on to the lead down the stretch to claim the win and even the match at 2-2. In the fifth and deciding game, with Troy leading 5-3, the Trojans went on a 10-2 run to close out the game and seal the win. Kelly Davis led Tennessee State with 13 kills while freshman Makena Naho'oikaika had 12 kills for the Lady Tigers. Candace Saleaumua had 37 set assists and Christian Lowe led TSU with 20 digs. Endia Oliver also added 11 blocks. TSU will play the final game of the War Invitational tonight at 7 p.m. against host Auburn.
