LADY TIGERS CLAIM FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON OVER NICHOLLS

AUBURN---The Tennessee State University volleyball team defeated Nicholls 3-2 (30-20, 26-30, 26-30, 30-24, 15-10) at the War Eagle Invitational hosted by Auburn University, Friday evening at the Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum. TSU opened the match with a first game win but dropped the next two contests 26-30. Down one to two games, the Lady Tigers mounted a comeback that would see them win the next two games and the match. Seniors Kelly Davis and Endia Oliver led the Lady Tiger offense with 13 and 12 kills, respectively. Oliver also tallied a total of 12 blocks (4 solo, 8 assists) Candace Saleaumua dished out 41 set assists along with 15 digs. Newcomers Melissa Silva (23), Christian Lowe (13), and Kamille King (11) also tallied double figures in digs. The Lady Tigers return to action Saturday when they face Troy at 10 a.m. and Auburn at 7 p.m.
