NASHVILLE---Just one night removed from a disappointing loss to EKU, TSU volleyball bounced back to defeat Morehead 3-2 (30-28, 21-30, 30-28, 28-30, 15-11) in a fiercely contested five games Saturday morning at Wetherby Gym. The match highlighted impressive performances from a number of Lady Tigers. Kelly Davis led the Lady Tiger offense and defense with a season high 24 kills with 20 digs. Erika Godbolt also had a double-double performance with 17 kills and 18 digs. Meesha Jackson connected 18 kills on 29 attempts hitting .517 while Collese Dornan recorded 14 kills for TSU. Tiana Maua nearly pulled out a double-double as she dished out a season high 72 set assists with nine digs. Katie Lippi collected 16 digs for the match. Tennessee State volleyball hit a highly respectable .330 for the match with 82 total kills. With the win the Lady Tigers improve to 15-11 overall and 7-3 OVC while Morehead moves to 17-9 on the season and 7-3 in the OVC. TSU volleyball will remain on the road next week traveling to Southeast Missouri on Friday, October 27 and Eastern Illinois, Saturday October 28. Game times are set for 7 p.m. and 2 p.m. respectively.
