RICHMOND, Ky. ---TSU volleyball was defeated 3-0 (30-22, 30-28, 30-23) by host Eastern Kentucky Friday night at McBrayer Arena. Tennessee State (14-11, 6-3 OVC) went back and forth with Eastern Kentucky (11-12, 4-5 OVC) in the first game of the match. With the score tied 11-11, EKU jumped ahead and never trailed again on the way to the 30-22 victory. Game two of the match saw EKU get out to an 18-9 lead. A strong-minded TSU, however, would not be counted out as the Lady Tigers went on a 6-1 scoring run that knotted the game 26-26. With the score tied 28-28, EKU clinched the final two points of the game to escape with the 30-28 victory. In the third game, the score stayed close until EKU stretched it's lead to five (16-11). TSU would come back to take the lead (22-21) but an EKU rally that scored nine of the final 10 points of the contest would secure the win for the Colonels. Tennessee State only managed to hit .160 for the game while EKU hit .220. Meesha Jackson led TSU with 13 kills while Collese Dornan chipped in 12. Erika Godbolt had a double-double performance with 11 kills and 18 digs. Katie Lippi also collected 18 digs. Kelly Davis recorded 13 digs as Tiana Maua had 12 digs for TSU. The Lady Tigers are back in action tomorrow at Morehead State. Game time is set for 10:00 a.m. central.
