CO-CHAMPION LADY TIGER VOLLEYBALL TEAMOPENS PLAY IN OVC TOURNAMENT ON SATURDAY
NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State is co-champion of the 2005 Ohio Valley Conference and the Lady Tigers will continue their outstanding season in the O'Reilly OVC Tournament next weekend in Charleston, Ill. The Lady Tigers posted a 14-2 OVC record and will share the OVC regular season with Eastern Kentucky. The two teams split in their regular season meeting with each team posting a 3-0 win on its home court. Under the OVC tie-breaker procedures, TSU will enter the tournament as the No. 2 seed while EKU will hold the top seed. As the second seed, the Lady Tigers receives a first round bye will open their tournament play on Saturday at 4 p.m. in Eastern Illinois' Lantz Gym. TSU will meet the winner of Friday's match between No. 3 seed Jacksonville State and No. 6 Austin Peay in the single elimination event. Eastern Kentucky will await the winner of Friday's match between Southeast Missouri and host Eastern Illinois in Saturday's other semifinal matchup. TSU wrapped up its record-breaking season with a 3-0 sweep of Tennessee-Martin on Saturday afternoon in Kean Hall. Senior Katrelle Armwood, the team's lone senior, was honored prior to the match. TSU finishes its regular season with a 22-10 record.
