LADY TIGER KELLEY SMITH NETS OVC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARD

NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State junior volleyball player Kelley Smith has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her performance in three Lady Tiger victories last week. Smith had a hitting percentage of .472 and had 30 total kills in the Lady Tigers' wins over Murray State, Samford, and Jacksonville State. She had 10 kills and seven blocks in the win over Jax State as the Lady Tigers handed the Gamecocks their first conference defeat and avenged a loss two weeks ago. Smith is playing a key role for TSU which is off to a school record 13-8 overall mark and a 5-1 OVC record. Smith also had 13 blocks in the three matches. A 6-2 middle blocker from Michigan City, Ind., Smith is the second Lady Tiger to be honored for her play this season. Katrelle Armwood was named the OVC Defensive Player of the Week earlier this season.
