VOLLEYBALL TEAM CONTINUES WIN STREAK BY AVENGING LOSS OVER JSU
NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee State volleyball team avenged its lone Ohio Valley Conference loss and kept its winning streak intact by blanking Jacksonville State 3-0 Saturday afternoon in Kean Hall. The Lady Tigers (13-8, 5-1) opened OVC play on Sept. 23 at Jacksonville State, dropping a 3-0 decision. Since that match, TSU entered the rematch with five straight overall victories, including four straight within the league. TSU made it five straight in the OVC and extended its winning streak to six with the Saturday win. TSU won 30-22, 30-25, and 30-26. Kara Keifer had 11 kills and Kelley Smith added 10. The Lady Tigers had a good blocking afternoon. Smith had seven block assists in the match. TSU's defense was led by Erika Godbolt who had 16 digs, while Katrelle Armwood had 13. JSU (8-8, 5-1) was led by Abbey Breit's 19 kills. Rebekah Nichols added 11. TSU plays at Austin Peay Tuesday night.
