BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- Tennessee State's volleyball team defeated Samford, 3-1, to take its first Ohio Valley Conference victory of the season on the road on Saturday. The Lady Tigers bounced back from Friday night's loss at Jacksonville State to get off to a fast start against the Lady Bulldogs. TSU won the first two matches 30-19 and 30-27, before Samford won game three, 30-22. TSU then rolled to a 30-18 win in the final game. TSU had three players who had double figures in kills. Kelly Davis had 28 total. Kara Kiefer had 12, five coming in game four. Kelley Smith had a .471 hitting percentage for the match. The Lady Tigers improve to 8-8 overall. TSU will be in action Tuesday in a match with Alabama A&M that will be played in the Gentry Center, rather than Kean Hall.
