NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee State volleyball team saw a 2-0 lead evaporate into a 2-2 tie. However, the Lady Tigers came back in the fifth and deciding game to win 15-13 and claim a 3-2 victory over visiting Lipscomb Tuesday night in Kean Hall before an enthusiastic crowd. The competitive match took more than two-and-a-half hours to complete, but the fans in attendance were treated to exciting action throughout the evening. After winning 30-28 and 30-22 to open the match, the Lady Bisons knotted the affair with 30-25 and 30-28 wins, setting the stage for the fifth and deciding match. TSU broke away from a 13-13 deadlock to score the final two points to secure the win. With the victory, the Lady Tigers have fought back to even their record at 7-7 heading into Ohio Valley Conference play, beginning this weekend. The Lady Bisons fall to 3-9 with the tough loss. The stats were almost as even as the match. TSU had 72 kills, led by Meesha Jackson's 19. Kelly Davis added 14 and Erika Godbolt 12. TSU had a .233 hitting percentage. Lipscomb had 70 kills, led by Cara Wilber's 22. The Lady Bisons had a .175 hitting percentage. Katrelle Armwood led the TSU defense with 29 digs. Godbolt contributed 13 and Davis 11.
