LADY TIGER VOLLEYBALL FALLS IN HOME OPENER TO TREVECCA
NASHVILLE --- The TSU Lady Tiger Volleyball team (2-2, 0-0 OVC) fell in its home opener in Kean Gymnasium to crosstown rival Trevecca (5-0) on Tuesday night, 3-0. Leading the way for Tennessee State was senior Jennifer Corral, who recorded a game-high 17 kills and 10 digs on the night. She was followed by sophomores Thereza Wright and Jade Cabell, who each picked up nine kills. In game one, the Lady Tigers jumped to a six-point lead before untimely errors cost them game one. Trevecca notched 16 kills to TSU's nine in the first game on their way to a 30-27 win. The second game again saw the Blue and White start strong, picking up a total of 17 kills but it was not enough as the Lady Trojans took advantage of errors and pulled away 30-27. In game three, Trevecca continued to lean on the serving power of Crissie Cunha, who recorded a game-high four service aces. The Lady Tigers led through the majority of the final game but could not hold off Trevecca and fell, 30-26. The Lady Tigers return to action on Friday, Sept. 5 as they travel to Cullowhee, N.C. to compete in the opening round of the Western Carolina Invitational.
