The Lady Tiger volleyball team fell to the Otahkians of Southeast Missouri State on Thursday evening. The final score of the match was 3-0. Tennessee State started out strong in game one, jumping out to a 20-13 lead. The Otahkians managed to knot the game at 25 before overtaking the Lady Tigers, 30-26. Southeast Missouri State saw every point made matched by the Lady Tigers in game two. Unfortunately, the Otahkians proved too strong and took game two, 30-26. Another strong start by Tennessee State opened the final game. Back-to-back service aces by freshman Shelby Myers (Smyrna, Tenn.) gave the Lady Tigers a 12-9 lead. Southeast Missouri State came storming back and knotted the game at 16 before Tennessee State jumped out to a 21-16 lead. Costly errors down the stretch gave game three to the Otahkians, 30-26. Senior Jennifer Corral (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) recorded the Lady Tigers lone double-double of the evening (18k, 18d) while Myers matched her career-high three service aces. Sophomore Catherine Armwood (Durham, N.C.) added 17 digs to Tennessee State's defensive effort. For Southeast Missouri State, Jessica Koeper led the team with 11 kills while Jill Miller contributed 15 digs. The Lady Tigers return to action on Saturday when they play a doubleheader. Match one is scheduled for 2 p.m. with Tennessee Tech and the nightcap is scheduled for 5 p.m. with Alabama State.
