The Tennessee State Lady Tiger volleyball team fell in action on Friday night to Tennessee-Martin at Kean Hall. The final score of the match was 3-0 in favor of the Skyhawks. After dropping the first game, 30-23, the Lady Tigers put up a strong effort to start game two. Tennessee State matched the Skyhawks point for point until Tennessee-Martin was able to pull away, going up three points, 25-22. UTM took game two, 30-23. The Skyhawks went on a 6-1 run to open the third game of the night. Tennessee State managed to move within five points but could not close the gap and dropped the final game, 30-22. Three Skyhawks came away with double-doubles on the night- Heather Kea (12k, 17d), Leigh Reiniche (14k, 11d), and Jamie Fitzwater (13k, 12d). Senior Jennifer Corral (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) recorded a game-high 19 kills on the night and picked up a double-double with 16 digs. Sophomore Catherine Armwood (Durham, N.C.) added 16 digs as well. The Lady Tigers return to action on Saturday at 2 p.m. as they host their final non-conference opponent of the season Alabama A&M at Kean Hall.
