LADY TIGER VOLLEYBALL FALLS IN OPENER OF NEW ORLEANS TOURNAMENT
The Tennessee State University Lady Tigers Volleyball team (3-5) fell on the opening day of the Privateer/Wyndham-Metairie Classic to host-University of New Orleans (3-6) on Friday night, 3-0. TSU was overwhelmed by a Privateer roster that featured at least five players 5-10 or taller. Junior Jennifer Cruz paced the Privateers with eight kills. Freshmen Krystie Kaukola (Fairfax, Minn.) and LaQuata Marsh (Chattanooga, Tenn.) both notched six kills for the Lady Tigers. Sophomore Catherine Armwood (Durham, N.C.) and senior Kristin King (East St. Louis, Ill.) contributed 11 digs apiece while Shelby Myers had 19 assists. Play resumes in the Privateer/Wyndham-Metairie Classic Saturday morning at 10 a.m. with a match between Lamar and Tennessee State.
