CATHERINE ARMWOOD NAMED TO ALL-OVCFRESHMAN VOLLEYBALL TEAM; CORRAL RECOGNIZED

NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State freshman volleyball player Catherine Armwood has been named to the 2002 All-Freshman Ohio Valley Conference team while junior newcomer Jennifer Corral was named honorable mention All-OVC. The 2002 team was selected in a vote of league head coaches and announced Tuesday night by the conference office in Brentwood. Armwood, a 5-8 outside hitter from Durham, N.C., was one of seven freshmen from across the league to be honored with selected to the All-Freshman squad. Armwood averaged 2.65 kills a game and led the team with 3.24 digs per game. Corral transferred to TSU from Ventura College. The Thousand Oaks, Cal., native led TSU with 4.29 kills a game and a .202 hitting percentage. The 5-10 outside hitter averaged 3.17 digs a game. The Lady Tigers posted a school record 13 wins this season and will return the nucleus of their team for next season. ###
