LADY TIGERS HAVE WINNING STREAK SNAPPED
COOKEVILLE --- The Tennessee State volleyball team had its record five-match winning streak stopped Tuesday night with a 3-1 loss at Ohio Valley Conference member Tennessee Tech. The much-improved TSU squad won the first game 30-28, but Tech came back to win 30-22, 30-25, and 30-22. The Lady Tigers had entered the conference opener after wrapping up its first tournament title last weekend. TSU went unbeaten in the Alabama State Tournament, recording wins over Mississippi Valley, Morris Brown, host ASU, and South Carolina State. Junior Jennifer Corral, who became the first TSU player to earn OVC Player of the Week honors, has another big outing in the Tech match. Corral paced TSU with 29 kills. Freshman Katherine Armwood added 13 kills and 20 digs. The Lady Tigers, now 5-6 overall, will return to action next Tuesday with a match at Lipscomb.
