NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee State Lady Tiger volleyball team will be busy at work on Labor Day 2002 as they play a pair of matches to start the new season. The Lady Tigers will start the new season at Trevecca at 3 p.m. Four hours later, TSU will have its home opener against the Chicago State Lady Cougars in Kean Hall. TSU is looking for a much-improved season as it starts the new season. The season will stretch into late November. Trevecca is coming off a 26-14 record last season and finished third-place in the Mid-South Conference. Chicago State is a Division I independent and the Cougars make the trip to Nashville after participating in Middle Tennessee’s Tournament over the weekend. Jennifer Harris earned all-tourney honors for CSU. The Lady Cougars dropped decisions to tournament champion Purdue, Evansville, Western Carolina, and host MTSU. The Lady Tigers return several key players and have added talented newcomers. Junior Kristin King and Janique Suber, sophomore Jennifer Washington, and senior Catrina Hewlett, who is coming back from knee surgery, head the list of returnees. The newcomers include outside hitter Catherine Armwood, who was selected North Carolina High School Athletic Association Athlete of the Year and led her team to the Class1A state championship. Jennifer Corral, a 5-10 junior, was an all-conference and all-region performer at Ventura Community College. ### 9/1/02/lw
