Rain Halts Final Day of Troy Invitational

TROY, Ala. --- Overnight rain fall and the chance of continued precipitation on Sunday has forced the cancellation of the final day of play at the Troy Invitational. Tennessee State was scheduled to play the host Trojans at 12:30 p.m. as part of three games on the docket for day three.

The Tigers finished 0-4 during the opening weekend of the 2018 season. TSU forced extra innings in the final contest on Saturday before dropping a 5-4 heartbreaker to Alabama State. Junior pitcher Lauren Powell led the way with 15 strikeouts in 13.1 innings of work. Senior Kasey Cox topped the Tigers hitting attack with two doubles on the weekend.

TSU softball will take part in the Chattanooga Challenge beginning on Friday, Feb. 16. The three day tournament opposes the Tigers against Alabama A&M, Indiana State, Western Kentucky, Chattanooga and Sacred Heart.
