Head Coach Andrea Browning

- Opening Statement
“It was a good day, it was a good start. We did not get the results that we wanted, but we got a lot of people out there to get some experience. We got to see the things that we need to go back and work on. We definitely need to be more aggressive at the plate. Pitching was great in game one. LP (Lauren Powell) pitched a gem and I am super proud of her. She pitched well enough to win that game. The best thing about the day was the effort and the attitude. Everybody is staying positive and enthusiastic, and we are looking to go do some big things tomorrow.”

- On bright spots from day one
“Bri Vire was the only kid that had a hit in each game and that is a huge plus for us from a first year. Kasey Cox got a huge RBI in game two that got the team really excited. You start to see some of the pieces coming together. They are communicating well with each other on and off the field. Also the effort is remarkable. And Lauren Powell striking out nine in game one, that’s huge, and I look forward to see her growth throughout the year.”

Freshman Outfielder Bri Vire
- On adjustments at the plate
“After the first game, and having a little bit of a struggle there, I stepped aside with coach T (Tyler Sadler) and he told me I need to get my hands through and stop casting. So I made the adjustments in the second game and got a hit.”

- On first collegiate at bats
“I was a little nervous in my first at bat; I’m not going to lie. But with the team backing me up and coach Andrea (Browning) cheering me on also, really helped.”
