NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee State Softball team took a day off from training for the upcoming season to host its annual winter camp. The largest camp in the programs history saw over 100 registered athletes spanning 19 states.
Head coach Andrea Browning and her staff welcomed former Tennessee standouts Maddison Shipman, Raven Chavanne, Ivy Renfroe and Shelby Burchell. The campers received instruction and knowledge from the four former Lady Vols, the TSU coaches as well as the Tiger players.
“I cannot even begin to describe how excited we were about our camp,” Browning said. “Our TSU players and camp staff did a phenomenal job putting everything together to give the campers a memorable experience.”
The campers also had an opportunity to ask questions to the current Tigers about the collegiate experience. They also asked the visitor clinicians about their experiences with National Pro Fastpitch (NPF), the National teams and the Women’s College World Series.
“Having a hundred campers and their families on campus was very exciting,” Browning added. “It gave us the opportunity to share our passion for the game, the student-athletes and Tennessee State University.”
This was the first camp under the direction of Browning and assistant coach Tyler Sadler.
