My TSU Experience: Courtney Gearlds

Courtney Gearlds capped off a four-year career as a member of the Tennessee State softball team. Gearlds left her mark in the TSU record books, placing in the top 10 of nine single season categories and 10 career categories. The Donelson, Tenn. native left the Tigers as the record holder in hit by pitches with 40. Gearlds graduated with a bachelors in Biochemistry and will attend Pharmacy School at East Tennessee State University in the fall.

TSUTigers: What is your most memorable moment in your sport at TSU?
A: Setting a record for most hit by pitch

TSUTigers: What is your most memorable non-sport moment at TSU?
A: Getting into pharmacy school with a classmate

TSUTigers: What are some accomplishments/goals that you reached at TSU?
A: Setting records on the field and getting into pharmacy school

TSUTigers: What advice would you give to incoming freshman?
A:  Get ahead, stay focused

TSUTigers: What was your most challenging class at TSU?
A: Physical chemistry

TSUTigers: Who was your favorite professor?
A: Dr. De La Mothe

TSUTigers: Who have been the most influential people to you at TSU?
A: Professors and Jose Garcia

TSUTigers: What’s next for you?
A: Pharmacy School at ETSU

TSUTigers: Once you are an alumnus, how will you stay connected with TSU?
A: I will stay connected with my teammates

TSUTigers: What do you know now that you didn’t know coming in as a freshman?
A: I did not know organic chemistry, be friendly and be able to adjust to things at the last minute

A: Stay focused and do not give up
