2017 Tigers: Tennessee State stopped a six game skid with a split with Alabama State last Friday before dropping a pair of games to Evansville on Saturday. Pitcher Lauren Powell fanned 10 batters in game one against the Purple Aces, marking the first time a Tiger pitcher has reached double-digits since Feb. 8, 2014 (Shea Morris – 10 at Lipscomb). Freshman Patton Akers leads the team with a .391 batting average with Danica Gleason just behind at .385. Senior pitcher Lauren Woodard continues to lead the nation in walks per seven innings at 0.0. Woodard is tied with two other pitchers, but has worked more innings with 17.0. As a team, the Tigers are ranked sixth in Division I with 2.7 stolen bases per game as they have swiped 36 bases in 38 attempts. TSU will embark on a 12 game road trip beginning with a stop in Memphis to take part in the Blues City Classic.

Scouting Louisiana Tech (11-6)

The Lady Techsters enter the weekend fresh off an extra inning loss at No. 23 Ole Miss on Wednesday. Louisiana Tech enters with a .299 team batting average and is led by a pair of .400 hitters. Morgan Turkoly has played in just half the games, but has compiled eight hits in 19 at bats for a .421 average. Turkoly is tied for second on the team with three doubles and tied for third with nine runs batted in. Taria Page leads LT with 13 RBI, while hitting at a .407 clip. Preslee Gallaway leads the four pitcher staff, tossing two shutouts and has combined for another, as she has earned a 6-2 record and a 2.43 ERA. In 49.0 innings of work, Gallaway has totaled 33 strikeouts, walking just nine, and is holding opposing teams to a .284 batting average. Krystal De La Cruz provides support at 3-0 with a 3.25 ERA, a save and 15 punch outs in 23.2 innings.

Scouting Wright State (2-8)
2016 Record: 37-23

Wright State is led by a trio of hitters who are batting over .300. Macy Cook, Hannah Susor and Alexis Mayle lead the Raiders in hits with 12, 11 and 10, respectively. Cook leads the charge batting .387 with a double, a home run, six runs scored and six RBI. Susor is hitting .324, but has 10 walks for a .477 on base percentage. Susor has two doubles, a triple, and leads the squad in stolen bases (2) and runs scored (7). Mayle tops WSU with eight runs batted in, while hitting .323. The Raiders have proven to be sharp defensively with less than as error per game. As a team, WSU has committed nine errors dispersed between eight players. Ashley Sharp has proven to be the workhorse in the circle, tossing 64 percent of the team’s innings. Sharp has fanned just 12 batters in 42.0 innings and has appeared in nine games, starting six, while posting a 2-5 record and a 5.33 ERA.

Scouting Arkansas-Pine Bluff (3-11)
2016 Record: 15-36

Paige Garcia powers UAPB with four home runs and 14 RBI while batting .400. Tonnay Hawkins gives the Golden Lions a second threat, leading the squad at .429 and eight runs scored. The duo has accounted for all five dingers for UAPB and half of the teams RBI. Karia Beth Hall and Angelique Ramos have combined for 88 percent of the innings pitched. Hall is 1-7 with a 9.12 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 43.0 innings of work. Ramos holds a 1-3 record and a 6.71 ERA in 24.0 innings.

Scouting Memphis (4-7)
2016 Record: 26-31

Memphis is batting .254 as a team and is led by Lindsay Crowdus who is 15-for-32 (.469) with three triples, five runs and four runs batted in. Christian Novak and Molly Smith pace the way for the Tigers in the circle. Novak enters the weekend at 1-4 with a 4.15 ERA and has fanned 19 batters in 27.0 innings. Smith is holding opponents to a .270 batting average and is 2-3 with a 2.67 ERA. Smith has struck out 15 batters in 21.0 innings.
