MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Tennessee State softball team stepped out of conference play for a single game at Middle Tennessee on Tuesday evening. The Tigers were held to four hits and were shutout 3-0 by the Blue Raiders.
TSU lost for the sixth consecutive game and are 7-21 on the season. MT used the victory to improve to 15-15.
The Blue Raiders Kelci Cheney kept the TSU bats in check and did not allow a Tiger to reach second base. Joselynn Yates led the Big Blue finishing 2-for-3 at the plate.
Lauren Dreitlein opened the second inning with a single, but was stranded on first. Danica Gleason notched a hit with one out in the third, but was once again stranded in place.
Junior Lauren Woodard (2-12) kept the Tigers in the game surrendering three runs as she scattered seven hits and three walks. MT was able to scratch a run in each the first and second innings and added an insurance run in the fifth.
The Tigers return to conference play on Fri., Mar. 25, with a double header at UT Martin. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
