2016 Tigers: Last time out the Tigers (4-10) split a pair of games as they hosted the Tiger Invitational. TSU earned a pair of wins over Southern, while dropping two games to Loyola. Freshman Abi Stephens recorded the first single of her collegiate career during her 31st at bat. Previously, Stephens recorded six extra base hits - four doubles and two home runs. Lindsey Burgess led the Tigers on the week batting .583 (7-for-12) with a double and a home run. The blast propelled the Tigers to an 8-6 win in the final game of the weekend and her efforts earned her the adidas OVC Player of the Week award. The dinger was the 16th over her career, which is good for second on the TSU Career Home Run list. Freshman pitcher Erica O’Kane claimed her first collegiate win as she finished the Invitational with a 1.31 ERA in 10.2 innings of work.

Heading into the weekend, YSU is batting .284 as a team and boast four batters hitting over .300, including Alex Gibson and Sarah Dowd who are well over .400 on the season. Gibson leads the way at .440 (11-for-25) and has amassed eight runs, two doubles, a triple and four RBI. Dowd (.429) tops the team with three home runs and 10 runs batted in, to go along with two double, a triple and six walks.

In the circle, YSU relies on Caitlyn Minney and Paige Geanangel who have combined for 46.1 innings of the teams’ 51.1 total frames. Minney is 4-1 and has fanned 23 batters in her 29.1 innings, while Geanangel comes in at 0-3 with a save.
