NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lindsey Burgess was named adidas Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday. Burgess led the Tigers on the week batting .583 (7-for-12) with four runs, five RBI, a double and a home run.
This is the second award of her career, earning her first on Mar. 10, 2014. It is also the first weekly award for the Tigers since Burgess was last named as a sophomore.
The three-run blast highlighted the week as it propelled Tennessee State to an 8-6 win in the final game of the Tiger Invitational. The dinger was the 16th of her career, which is good for second on the TSU Career Home Run list.
Burgess reached base safely in all four games finishing with a .615 on base percentage and collected hits in each of the final three games. For her efforts, the senior was named to the All-Invitational team along with teammates Lauren Dreitlein and Courtney Gearlds.
TSU will travel to Birmingham, Ala. on Friday for a single game with Samford, before returning to Tiger Field for a double header with Youngstown State on Sun., Mar. 6.
