Tigers Travel to Murray State; Host Austin Peay on Sunday
Nashville, Tenn. – The Tigers will play an away and a home Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader this weekend as they close out cross divisional play. Tennessee State will take to the road on Saturday for two games at Murray State beginning at 1:00 pm. TSU will then travel back to Nashville for a twin bill with Austin Peay at Tiger Field. First pitch for Sunday’s games is at 1:00 pm.

The Tigers (11-30, 2-13) will be vying for the final spot in the OVC tournament as they currently sit two games out of the final spot with 10 games remaining on the schedule. Murray State is in seventh place, while APSU is just one game ahead of the Tigers. TSU was swept at Eastern Kentucky last weekend and is looking to break an eight game losing streak.
Shea Morris (7-16) and Olivia Gamache (4-14) will look to get the Tigers back on the right path. Jennifer Givens (.359) and Kiarra Freeman (.339) sit atop the offensive line-up trying to light the spark for the Tiger offense. Audrey Sensing entered the TSU top ten list for runs driven in for a season and is now tied for sixth with 23.

Alexa Becker leads Murray State with a .336 average, 27 runs, 11 home runs and 25 RBI. Casey Castile brings support to Becker and the Racer offense with a .273 average, 21 runs, six dingers and 23 RBI. Castile is the top double producer with 10. CheyAnne Gaskey and Shelby Kosmecki handle the pitching duties for Murray State. Gaskey (10-6) sports a 3.06 ERA and has recorded 115 strikeouts in 119 innings. Kosmecki (6-15) has fanned 95 batters in 123.2 innings as she has amassed a 3.62 ERA.

Lauren de Castro leads the way for the Governors, both at the plate and in the circle. As a hitter, de Castro boasts team highs with a .389 average, 26 runs, four triples, seven home runs and 24 RBI. As a pitcher, the junior is 7-10 with a 3.75 ERA and 56 strikeouts in 114 innings pitched. Offensively, de Castro is joined by Kayla Davidson (.344) and Laurel Burroughs (.313). Davidson leads APSU with 11 doubles and Burroughs is tops with four stolen bases while adding seven doubles, three triples and six long balls.
