Nashville, Tenn. - Tennessee State softball earned its second individual honor in as many days. Today, the Tennessee Sports Writers Association named Audrey Sensing their softball Player of the Week.
Sensing batted .471 (8-for-17) as the Tigers went 4-1 at the Tiny Lassiter HBCU Classic in Irondale, Ala. The freshman first baseman posted three hits against Howard University and Maryland-Eastern Shore, collecting her first two collegiate home runs versus UMES.
The Charlotte, Tenn., native added a two-run double against Savannah State and a two-run single versus South Carolina State. She drove in seven runs, scored four times and stole a base over the weekend. Sensing also walked twice for a .526 on base percentage and fielded a perfect 1.000 in 28 chances.
On Monday, Tiger pitcher Shea Morris was named Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week.
Tennessee State hosts the Tiger Classic this weekend, taking on St. Louis, Alabama State (twice), Nebraska-Omaha, Indiana and Mississippi Valley State starting Friday at Tiger Field.
