Nashville, Tenn. - Softball sophomore Shea Morris was selected to the College Sports Madness Preseason OVC All-Conference Second Team.
As a freshman, Morris finished second in the Ohio Valley Conference in strikeouts with a TSU freshman record of 190. The Lawrenceburg product pitched 201 2/3 innings, while appearing in 38 games with 31 starts in 2012. She was named to the Ohio Valley Conference All-Newcomer Team, becoming the fifth in school history to achieve the honor and the first since 2007, as she compiled an 11-22 record with a 3.61 ERA.
Morris was named OVC Pitcher of the Week on March 26th as she finished the week with a 3-1 record and allowed just one earned run in her four appearances for a 0.30 ERA.
"It is good for Shea that she got some recognition based off what she did last year," softball head coach Jeff Dabney said. "Hopefully she uses this as a springboard and has a good season. It is good for our program to get a little recognition and hopefully she lives up to being on the all-OVC preseason team."
This marks the second consecutive year the Tigers have placed a player on the College Sports Madness Preseason team. Tedra Alford was named to the team in 2012 as a junior.
