Tigers to Face #6 Tennessee

Nashville, Tenn. - The Tigers will travel to Knoxville to visit the fourth Southeastern Conference venue of the season, the fifth of the academic year. TSU opened the season with a victory at South Carolina before falling games at Arkansas and at #4 Florida. In the fall, the Tigers dropped a game to #3 Alabama. Tennessee State and #6 Tennessee will play the first game of a double header at 5:00 p.m. ET.

Freshman Savannah Gutierrez had a seven game hit streak snapped at Southeast Missouri, but came right back in the next game to give her a base knock in eight of the last nine games. During the span, the Lancaster, Calif., native is hitting at a .360 clip collecting nine hits in 25 at bats to go along with three walks. Over the same nine game stretch, Tedra Alford has matched Gutierrez at 9-for-25 and has earned five base on balls for a .467 on base percentage.

Tennessee sports a sister combination in the circle. Ellen Renfroe is 25-3 with a 1.22 ERA, while older sister Ivy is 15-6 and sits at 2.29. The duo has combined for 383 strikeouts opposed to 91 walks. Ellen has fanned 256 batters in 200.2 innings and Ivy has sat down 127 in 131.2.
