Nashville --- The Tennessee State University softball team will conclude the 2010 regular season on the road at Jacksonville State this weekend.
The Tigers' final home games of the season scheduled for this past weekend were cancelled due to the weather conditions in the Nashville area.
The Tigers are batting .229 and have a 4.36 team earned run average. TSU is second in the league in fielding percentage while ranking eighth in pitching and ninth in batting.
Jacksonville State (24-17 overall, 10-6 OVC) fell to Auburn, 8-5, and defeated Samford, 3-2, last week. The Gamecocks have had their last six OVC games rained out after their series at Austin Peay was called because of the storms in Tennessee this weekend. Their series at Southeast Missouri was rained out last week. That pushes their total of conference games lost to rain this season to eight.
The Gamecocks are in third place in the OVC standings while ranking second in the league in batting (.277) and third in pitching (2.74).
Hillary Downs leads the team offensively with a .359 batting average to go along with 46 hits and seven homeruns. Chrissy O'Neal has a .314 batting average and leads the team with 47 hits while Kaycee Crow (.288) has 34 hits and seven homeruns on the season.
JSU leads the all-time series 29-4. Last season the Gamecocks claimed the series 2-1 at Tiger Field. JSU swept the opening doubleheader (5-3, 7-0) before picking up a, 3-2, win in game three.
Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m. while Sunday's single game is scheduled for noon. Live stats will be available for all three games.
