Softball Signs Four to National Letters of Intent

Nashville --- Tennessee State head softball coach Joyce Maudie has announced the program's initial signings for the recruiting class of 2010. The incoming class includes Stephanie Fougerousse (Switz City, Ind.), Olivia Gomache (Exeter, R.I.), Ashley Haynes (Knoxville Tenn.) and Aisha Walker (Hendersonville, Tenn.).

"I am very excited about the gifted student athletes that have signed with Tennessee State University in the early signing period," commented Maudie. "We are delighted about what each of these young women bring to our program in personal character, talent and academic ability. Our staff and team are thrilled to welcome them into the Tiger family."

Stephanie Fougerousse (Pitcher/1B) led her softball team to a State Runner up finish in 2009 and was named to the Indiana All-State Team.  She also received All-Area and All-Conference honors as a freshman, sophomore and junior. She was tabbed the conference MVP as a sophomore and was named the player of the year as a freshman. A native of Switz City, Ind., she currently holds 13 school records and is a great all around athlete with the ability to be an impact player. 

Olivia Gamache (Pitcher/1B) is a three-time All-Division pitcher who has carried the load in the circle since her freshman year.  She is an exceptional softball player who is just beginning to realize her potential.  A native of Exeter, Rhode Island, she is a strong hitter and also has the ability to play first base. She is a determined player with an excellent work ethic and the desire to succeed.  She will major in Human Performance and Sports Science. 

Ashley Haynes (Shortstop) has helped to lead her Knox Central team to State Tournament appearances in 2007 and 2009.  She is a two-time All-District selection and has received the All-District Tournament MVP award as well as the Golden Glove Award.  A native of Knoxville, Tenn., she led her team in home runs and batting average in 2009.  She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Beta Club.  She has a strong arm and the ability to be a tremendous offensive force for the Tigers.

Aisha Walker (Outfielder) was named to the 2008 All-District team and received the team Hustle Award at her high school.  She was also selected to the All-Conference first team and led her team in home runs and hitting.  She was recognized for her Distinguished Scholastic Achievement by the TSSAA and is a member of the Beta Club.  The Hendersonville, Tenn. native possesses speed and versatility at the plate that will be a valuable asset to the Tigers.
