Nashville --- The Tennessee State University softball team will host Chattanooga in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday, April 6, at Tiger Field.
Tennessee State (9-18) will take a brief break from conference play with Tuesday's match-up against Chattanooga. The Tigers are coming off of a three-game series at Eastern Kentucky this weekend, in which the Colonels claimed, 2-1. TSU dropped game one 4-3 before picking up a 6-4 win in the second game of the doubleheader. The next day, EKU defeated TSU, 2-1, to capture the series.
Brittany Webb (.346) leads TSU with 17 RBI and 28 hits, including 10 doubles and two homeruns. Bridget Metzger (.314) has 22 hits with eight for extra bases. Caitlin Eaton (.304) has 21 hits and 14 RBI while Christy Hill (.260) has 20 hits.
Hannah Schnebly leads the Tiger pitchers with 33 strikeouts in 54.1 innings pitched. She has a 2.71 ERA and a 5-5 record.
Chattanooga (26-9) has won four straight contests, including most recently a three-game sweep over Western Carolina.
Lyndsey Stiles (.369) leads the Lady Mocs with 41 hits while Tiffany Baker (.323) has a team-best nine homeruns on the season. Tia Blosser (.257) has 23 RBI as Lauren Flores and Michelle Fuzzard are hitting .300 or better.
As a team, UTC is batting .285 and has a 2.12 ERA. Brooke Loudermilk is the squad's top pitcher with a 13-6 record and an ERA of 1.82.
Tennessee State and Chattanooga will meet for the 15th time with the Lady Mocs holding a 13-1 series advantage. Last season, Tennessee State snapped Chattanooga's 12 game win streak by picking up the first ever victory over the Lady Mocs. In the split, TSU defeated UTC, 3-0, before suffering a, 9-1, loss in game two.
The first game of Tuesday's doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at Tiger Field.
