Nashville --- The Tennessee State University softball team suffered an, 11-2, loss before dropping a 3-0 decision to Lipscomb in a doubleheader Wednesday evening at Draper Diamond.

With the sweep, TSU drops its fifth straight and falls to 9-22 on the season. Jalisa Bradley hit .500 in the doubleheader and recorded two hits, including two doubles. Caitlin Eaton registered a homerun and two RBI. The Tigers turned in a .186 batting average and a .302 slugging percentage.

The Tigers will look to get back on track this weekend when they face the Redhawks of Southeast Missouri in a three-game series at the Southeast Softball Complex.

Game One
The Tigers were hitless through the first three innings and suffered an, 11-2, loss to the Lady Bisons in game one.

Caitlin Eaton, Bridget Metzger and Brittany Webb recorded TSU's only hits of the game. Eaton had two RBI and recorded her first homerun of the season. Hannah Schnebly (5-6) was charged with the loss for TSU.

The Lipscomb pitching held the TSU bats in check for most of the game. The Bisons, however, used a couple of two-run homers, a passed ball and a single to take an early 6-0 lead in the bottom of the first.

The Bisons added four more runs in the third frame to make the score 10-0 before TSU finally got on the board.

In the top of the fourth, Brittany Webb singled through the left side before Caitlin Eaton hit a two-run homerun to make the score, 10-2.

LU added another run in the bottom of the fourth to increase the advantage to 11-2 before the game ended due to the mercy rule.

Game Two
Much like the first game, Lipscomb got out to an early lead. The Lady Bisons used a two-run homerun to grab a 2-0 advantage.

TSU threatened in the top of the fifth when single by Brooke Blackford and a double by Jalisa Bradley put runners on second and third with no outs. Unfortunately, a ground out and two strikeouts ended the inning before TSU could score.

Lipscomb added one more run in the fifth to make the score 3-0.

TSU put together a small rally in the seventh but it came up short. With two outs, Jalisa Bradley was hit by a pitch before Tedra Alford and Kara Murr singled to load the bases. The Lady Bisons, however, were able to get out of the inning unscathed as the next Tiger batter struck out.

Tennessee State recorded five hits but left seven runners stranded on base in the shut-out.

Jalisa Bradley went 2-for-2 at the plate and recorded two doubles. Caitlin Eaton (2-8) threw two strikeouts and allowed three walks in the loss.
