Nashville --- The Tiger softball team will look to pick up their first win of the 2010 season when they take on Western Kentucky in a doubleheader on Wednesday, Feb. 24 at the WKU softball field.

The Tigers' first scheduled tournament in Georgia was canceled due to the inclement weather two weekends ago but TSU finally got a chance to hit the field in the APSU Classic.

Unfortunately, TSU finished the tournament 0-5, falling to Chattanooga, Northern Iowa, IUPUI and Butler twice.

Brooke Blackford led TSU in the tournament with a .429 batting average (3-of-7) while turning in three hits. Bridget Metzger (.385) and Tamara Perkins (.333) each had a home run and tallied five hits apiece.

As a team, Tennessee State had a 4.91 ERA and a .217 batting average for the tournament.

Western Kentucky (4-3) has won two straight and is coming off of a 13-3 win over Utah State. Lindsay Antone leads the Hilltoppers with 12 hits and a .571 batting average while Shannon Smith is second on the team with nine hits and a .375 batting average. WKU pitcher Kim Wagner is 2-1 and has an ERA of 0.95.

WKU has an overall batting average of .283 and an ERA of 1.49.

Tennessee State and Western Kentucky will meet for the 21st time in the all-time series history. Last season, WKU swept TSU in a doubleheader to increase its all-time lead to 18-2. The Hilltoppers picked up a 9-0 win before defeating the Tigers 3-2 in the second contest.

Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the WKU Softball Field.
