Tigers Head South to Face UT Chattanooga
Nashville, Tenn. Tennessee State University softball will travel to Chattanooga, Tenn. to face-off against UT Chattanooga on Wednesday, April 1, in a non conference doubleheader at Frost Stadium beginning at 3 p.m.
The Tigers enter the doubleheader with a 13-14 overall record and a 5-4 post in the Ohio Valley Conference. This past weekend TSU took 2-of-3 from OVC rival Austin Peay. As a team, Tennessee State is hitting .272 with 19 home runs.
Caitlin Eaton has been the offensive leader for the Tigers, batting .430 with nine dingers. Eaton also leads the team in RBI (21) and hits (34). The sophomore is also the team’s leader in the circle with eight wins. Opposing batters are hitting .269 off Eason, who has a 3.04 ERA.
Tiffany Baker leads the Lady Mocs in hitting with a .367 average on the year and is the team’s leader in several offensive categories. Baker has hit seven home runs while driving in 23 RBIs in 2009.
UTC has a hold on the series record at 13-0 taking the last meeting in Nashville, Tenn. 8-1 over the Tigers on March 26, 2008.
Tiger softball will resume OVC play when they host in-state foe, UT Martin, in a two-day three-game series beginning with a double header on Saturday, April 4, at Tiger Field at 1 p.m. The third and final game of the series will be played on Sunday (4/5) with start time slated for 12 p.m.
