NASHVILLE---On Saturday, August 25, the Tennessee State University softball team along with faculty, administration, alumni and other students participated in the first annual TSU Community Service Day. There were a number of locations around the community that were available for participants to volunteer their services. The Tiger softball team helped clean up the area around Jefferson Street and in the neighborhoods surrounding the TSU campus. The day kicked off with everyone gathering in the Gentry Center at 8 a.m. to prepare for their assignments. Following a day of volunteering the participants reconvened in the Gentry Center for lunch. "This was a great event for the university and the entire TSU family. The softball team was proud to participate in such a worthy endeavor," said Tiger softball Coach Joyce Maudie. "It is always good to give back to the community, because we get so much from the community. It was a total team effort by all!"
