Atlanta, Ga.--- The Tennessee State softball team closed out the Panther Invitational with losses against the University of Dayton (1-8) and Georgia State (1-3). The Tigers finished the tournament 2-2.
Tennessee State moves to 4-2 overall.
Dayton jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and used a four run second inning to build a 7-0 lead. Tennessee State’s only run came in the fifth inning when Jalisa Bradley scored on a sacrifice fly from Tamara Perkins.
Georgia State posted the first runs of the game in the second inning but TSU got on the board in the third after Bradley led off with a double to center field and later scored. Trailing 1-3 in the seventh inning, the Tigers led off with a single through the left side but the rally fell short as two runners were left on base.
Tennessee State will next travel to Florida to participate in the Florida Atlantic Tournament. Opponents will include Bethune Cookman, Rutgers, Central Michigan and host Florida Atlantic.
